Skimmers

Vertical & Horizontal SKIMMERS & ACCESSORIES

Enviro-Tech Systems offers numerous skimmers in addition to the API-421. ETS Skimmers can be either vertical or horizontal in configuration, and range from atmospheric to ASME Code Pressure Vessels. ETS Skimmers can remove from 150 micron down to 50 micron size contaminants, and possess the ability to clean oily sands and solids. The fluid can be controlled internally with adjustable weirs or externally with ETS Water Leg, or Level Controller and Level Control Valve. These units are based on intermittent oil/water inlet flow for taking advantage of Stoke’s Law and it’s principle of the rate of oil in water. This equipment is suitable where the oil/water mixture has not been exposed to high shearing forces by devices such as mixers, pumps, control valves, cyclone separators, eductors, etc. The mean oil particle diameter should be greater than 200 microns and 95% of the particles to be removed should be greater than 150 microns in diameter. The total oil content of the water to be treated should not be greater than 5 barrels of oil per 1000 barrels of water for the “standard” design. ETS designed skimmers offer an alternative for wastewater oil recovery at a nominal cost using equipment that requires minimal maintenance and operating cost.

ETS SKIMMER ADVANTAGES:

  • NO POWER REQUIRED
  • LOW OPERATING COST
  • NO MOVING PARTS
  • LOW MAINTENANCE COST
  • STOKE’S LAW GRAVITY SEPARATION DESIGN
  • REDUCTION IN RETENTION REQUIREMENTS
  • LOW CAPITAL EXPENDITURE

Vertical Skimmers

VERTICAL SKIMMERS

ETS tailors its skimmers to each specific application. The ETS Design Team can meet your process requirements with new equipment or by retro-fitting existing equipment for today’s needs.

Horizontal SkimmersHORIZONTAL SKIMMERS

In ETS Horizontal Skimmers (HS), the oil droplets rise perpendicular to the flow of water, as shown below, in lieu of countercurrent, which make them more efficient than the vertical vessels. The inlet enters below the oil pad. The water then turns and flows horizontally for most of the length of the vessel. Oil droplets coalesce in this section of the vessel and rise to the oil/water surface where they spill over the weir into an oil bucket. ETS’ unique cylindrical design, in contrast to the square flat bottom vessels, holds solids in the bottom quadrant of the vessel for easy removal. Internal Media can be added to significantly improve the vessel’s oil removal efficiency.
